History of Double Shutter Images:
Michael Kanka bought his first camera in Munich, Germany when he was 16. Photography was always a passion and it became an integral part of his software development business. He moved to Canada in 2003 with his wife Monika and set up Kanka Photography with a fully equipped photo studio in Squamish.
Cindy Cardiff moved to Squamish in 2006 with her two sons and established Trek Photography. She quickly became connected in the community through taking photographs and volunteering at many community events. She has a Professional Photography Certificate from the New York Institute of Photography and a Bachelor of Science specializing in Psychology from University of Alberta.
Double Shutter Images was established in 2009, when Cindy and Michael merged their photography businesses. This enabled them to offer a full portfolio of professional photography and high-end digital image services as well as a team of photographers to more extensively cover events and projects. The partnership flourished and they celebrated 10 years of business together. Michael retired at the end of 2018 to do more relaxing and travelling with his wife, Monika. Cindy now operates Double Shutter Images on her own with the occasional guest appearance of Michael as they continue their friendship.
